Creating Your Abstract for Electronic Submission
The abstract template must be used without modification, to ensure compliance with all formatting guidelines. This will ensure that your paper size and margin settings are correct, there are no headers or footers present, and that there are no “hidden” fonts that may cause the upload to be rejected. If you do not use the supplied template your abstract will almost certainly be rejected on upload.

In addition to the formatting requirements shown on the sample abstract, on-line submissions must meet the following criteria:

  • Documents must be in Rich Text Format (RTF). The abstract template which you can download is in RTF. If you create your abstract using the template, it will already be an RTF file.
  • The maximum number of pages allowed is 1.
  • Title and Author Information must be on the abstract. Without this information, the abstract could be rejected and not published.
Title: Type the abstract title in all UPPER case letters. Use a short, substantive title.
Authors: The presenting author's name must be underlined. This person is expected to present the paper. If emergencies at the time of the meeting prohibit the participation of this designated author, the chair(s) of the session and the Program Committee Chair must be notified as soon as possible. Type initials and last name for all authors. Include affiliation, city, state, and/or country. Do not use titles; i.e. M.D., Ph.D., etc. Type in upper and lower case type. If the affiliations of the other authors are different from the first author, designate affiliations of other authors.
  • Text should be typed single-spaced.
  • Do not skip a line between paragraphs.
  • Font size must be 12 point.
  • Only the fonts listed below are currently approved for use.
    • Arial
    • Helvetica
    • Times New Roman
    • Symbol
  • Figures and tables are acceptable to substantiate results.
  • Abstracts must be RTF document formatted to 8.5" X 11" (21.59cm x 27.94cm) with the following margin settings:
      Margins Inches Centimeters
      Top & Bottom 2.00 inch 5.08 cm
      Left & Right 1.75 inch 4.445 cm

Abstracts which do not meet the stated criteria and format will not be accepted when uploaded. Netscape 2.0 or higher, or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher is required. Earlier versions of these browsers will not work with the upload form.

Presenting and corresponding authors will be notified of abstract acceptance on or around January 13, 2006. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must register for the meeting.
